Since its incarnation in 2008 the Autoreply sound has consistently evolved with each release. Having concentrated on the big dancefloor for the majority of the year Auto 06 sees a seasonal change in direction tailoring the sound to the warm summer after party or the more intimate nightclub backroom. For this release they welcome Ben Rourke, a man who has earned his place in the Autoreply camp not through releasing record after a record on everybody’s favourite labels but through several years of hard graft behind the turntables. Ben originally started his music career as a working drummer in numerous bands however during 2002 he decided to turn his attentions to the mysterious realm of machine made music. With the drum skins quickly being replaced by turntables & synthesizers Ben eventually quenched his thirst for less predictable music & began to dabble in production & nightclub promotion. Ben’s style is a completely unique form of linear dub driven techno. His tracks effortlessly build without the aid of well known formulas or commercial synth patches, always using high-end sound design but never forgetting that music is essentially meant for dancing & enjoyment! The title track Blue is full of life & emotion showcasing playful keys with a scattering of Rastafarian style dub vocals tied together with a reverb coated bottom end & drum programming that references the 90’s master of this genre Maurizio... Pier Bucci has recorded for many high-calibre labels including Crosstown Rebels, Cadenza, Cynosure and now his own Maaruca imprint - he had a brief period of residence in London during 2008 where he & Ben realised they shared similar musical tastes, thus being an obvious choice to remix Ben’s first vinyl appearance. For this mix Pier deconstructs the original work, jacks up the pace & rebuilds the foundations - staying true to Ben’s original concept but taking things to the next level with his own unmistakable touch.
