Slices examines a career that has now spanned almost twenty years,
exploring his role in the Detroit techno scene, co-founding and establishing
the legendary plus 8 label with John acquaviva and the international cult
that sprang up around his distinct alter ego, plastikman. friends, family,
colleagues and richie Hawtin himself tell their stories relating early DJ
experiences, his first encounters with role models like Derrick May and Jeff
Mills, his move to new York city and then later to Berlin, and much more.
assembling an extensive archive of both new and unreleased photos,
video and exclusive interviews, the film provides an extraordinary insight
into the life and career of one of the most successful activists in techno
history: richie Hawtin.
