His early releases on Transmat and Fragile had become cult classics on the techno underground. These were followed by a series of stunning releases on his co-owned Retroactive label. 1993 saw Carl launch his Planet E label and he released an EP by 69 followed by an EP of material by ART owner Kirk Degiorgio (Future/Past) and Ed Handley of The Black Dog (Balil). The new recordings included a dance floor stomper - ‘Chicken Noodle Soup’ and typically moody down-tempo grower ‘How The West Was Won; and an ambient end-piece ‘Sleep’. A Mayday remix of this track - entitled ‘Neurotic Behaviour’ - had already been released on the Psyche EP on Transmat in 1990.
